FAQs: Newborn, Maternity & Family Sessions

When should I book a newborn session?

The best time to book a newborn session is during your second trimester. I reserve a spot based on your due date and adjust the session once your baby arrives.

How old should my baby be for newborn photos?

Newborn photos are best taken when your baby is between 5 and 14 days old, while they’re still sleepy and tiny.

How old should my baby be for newborn photos?

My baby is 3 months old (or older). Is it too late to book newborn photos?

Not at all! While we may not get those super sleepy, curled-up newborn poses, this season is still so incredibly special—and so fleeting. You’ll never regret capturing your baby just as they are right now.

Before you know it, your little one will be a senior in high school, and it won’t matter if they were 2 weeks or 4 months old in the photos. What matters most is having those memories to hold onto when you’re 50, something real to look back on and remember this sweet chapter.

What should my baby wear for the session?

I recommend dressing your baby in a simple, neutral-colored onesie or a soft swaddle. Avoid bold patterns or bright colors, as they can distract from your baby’s natural beauty. I don’t provide outfits or wraps, but I’m always happy to help you choose something that photographs beautifully—just reach out if you’d like guidance.

What should we wear for a lifestyle session?

I recommend wearing simple, neutral-colored clothing. A long dress for mom, and a plain T-shirt or henley paired with jeans or khakis for dad. Light patterns are fine, but it’s best to avoid logos and bold prints.

What’s the difference between lifestyle and posed newborn photography?

Lifestyle newborn photography is relaxed and natural, capturing your family at home just as you are—without props or formal posing. It’s different from studio-style sessions and always includes all family members.

Do you offer Fresh 48 sessions?

I totally get it—and you’re not alone! But here’s the thing: I love children. I have a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, I was a live-in nanny for three energetic boys, and now I have three of my own (whom I homeschool!). So yes, I am surrounded by kids all the time, and I truly enjoy the beautiful chaos they bring.

Your job is to show up and love your people. My job is to capture it all—messy, joyful, real. You don’t need perfectly behaved kids for meaningful photos. You just need to be together.

So don’t stress. Let’s embrace the giggles, the wiggles, and even the meltdowns. Message me and let’s book your session—because one day, you’ll miss these wild little moments more than you can imagine.
