Looking for a maternity photographer isn’t always easy.
You just found out you’re pregnant, you’re still figuring out your doctor—let alone who should photograph this new season. A friend mentioned someone weeks ago, but you can’t remember her name. You asked in a Facebook group and came back to 100+ comments. You felt overwhelmed and closed the tab. Sound familiar?
You’re not alone.
Here’s what I would do if I were searching for a maternity photographer in Columbia or Lexington, SC:
1. Start with websites.
Go to Google. Open a few local photographers’ sites. See if anyone stands out. Does their work make you pause?
2. Look at their style.
Check out their recent work on Instagram or Facebook. Can you see yourself in their photos? Would you want those images on your walls—reminders of the season you carried your baby under your heart?
3. Reach out to your favorites.
Ask about availability and pricing, of course—but also pay attention: Are they kind? Are they responsive? Do you feel a connection, or does it feel cold and transactional?
4. Trust your gut.
This season is fleeting. You deserve to feel celebrated. You’ll remember this pregnancy for the rest of your life—choose someone who makes you feel seen, not just the cheapest or the most recommended.
One day, you’ll be 60, watching your own child prepare for motherhood. You’ll pull out those photos and say,
“I loved being pregnant. I remember exactly where we took these. I felt so special.”
If you’re looking for a maternity photographer in Columbia, SC—and hoping to find someone you can truly connect with—reach out. I’d love to see if we’re a good fit.
